Packing Up and Heading South!

Welcome to OnVallartaTime, 2015-16 edition! Believe it or not, it’s already time to leave the Oregon Coast and travel south, along the beach 2,000 miles, to Puerto Vallarta once again. Tomorrow, Peggy and I head to Portland to spend the night near the airport, and our plane leaves early the morning of Tuesday, November 3rd.

Needless to say we have spent the last couple of weeks staging our exit by cutting off utilities, winterizing the house, deciding what to take with us, and buying last-minute items we know we will need when we arrive. But we are experienced packers by now, and we can use previous years’ lists to make sure we aren’t forgetting anything. Even though we are used to it, it’s a little nerve-wracking to try to remember all the details; hence the lists.

It’s somewhat bittersweet, too, and I’m not talking about the Halloween chocolate. This was the first full season we have spent in our cozy beach house, and we have grown to love it. But we have had our first couple of fall storms with lots of wind and rain, and the creek below our deck is running full. It’s time to go. Still, it’s comforting to know that our little house in the midst of all this beauty will be here when we get home in the spring.

So here we go again, and the adventure continues!  Stay tuned, and watch for OnVallartaTime in your inbox. We won’t be on a regular schedule, but I’ll try not to let too much time go between posts. I’m also going to try to publish on Facebook as well this year. It should be fun!

As a parting shot, here are a couple of recent views of the beach in Lincoln City. The beach will look a lot different in Puerto Vallarta!
